Where does my dog stay during board and trains?
Your dog will live with a trainer at his or her primary residence for the duration of their board and train program. Most dogs will go off site to train in public places during their program. When your dog is not training or supervised he or she will be in a kennel or crate for safety.
Will I get updates about my dog?
Yes. Each week you will receive a photo or video and a message about how your dog is doing during their program. You are also welcome to request additional updates from your trainer.
What does my dog need before his or her board and train?
Your dog will need proof of up to date Rabies, DH2PP, and Bordetella vaccines before their stay. You will also need to sign the service agreement.
Do I need to pay all up front for my board and train?
No. 50% is required at dropoff and 50% at or before your dog’s go home. If your program reservation is more than 4 weeks out you will be asked to place a non refundable $200 deposit to hold your spot. This $200 deposit will be deducted from the first 50% payment.
What should I send with my dog for their board and train?
We will need any medications your dog is on as well as flee/tick and heartworm prevention if given monthly. We will also need enough food for your dog’s stay. You may send toys with your dog, however the toys may or may not be used depending on the dog. We avoid leaving dogs alone with soft or plush toys to reduce the risks of blackages. We will also have toys for your dog to enjoy during his or her program.
What if I have questions or need help after my board and train?
Both the premier program and the behavior modification come with additional free lessons after the board train which you may schedule anytime within 6 months of the program’s completion. You can also contact your trainer with questions or to request more lessons at any time. You’re not alone after your board and train program.
Can I board my dog with Rioghal Canine without doing a board and train program?
No. Dogs are only allowed to board with a Rioghal Canine trainer after completing a board and train or training program.
What is the purpose of a consultation?
The purpose of a consultation is to allow you to meet your trainer and your trainer to meet you and your dog and insure we are a good fit for helping you meet your goals. Consults are free.
What will happen if my dog gets sick while at a board and train program
You will be contacted by your trainer if your dog begins displaying symptoms of illness or GI upset. You and your trainer can make a plan about what vet and when you would like your dog to be seen or if pausing the board and train will be better. In the event of an emergency, Your trainer will seek out the nearest emergency vet and contact you or your emergency contact. Owners are liable for all of their dog’s veterinary expenses.
